Compromised slates within the array footprint are replaced, and related slate work — broken slates, ridge and valley, chimney flashing, even skylights — can be addressed in the same project. Can solar really go on our slate roof without removing the slate?

Yes. The company says SlatePlate is the first system that both leaves the slate in place and keeps the weight off it — it attaches to the frame underneath instead.
