5. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information for money.
We share personal information in the following circumstances:
5.1 Service Providers
We use third parties to operate the Site and our business. They receive only the information needed to perform their function and are not permitted to use it for their own independent purposes, except as described in Section 6. These include:
- Web hosting. Our website and customer relationship management system are hosted on servers operated by our hosting provider, which necessarily processes information transmitted to and stored on the Site.
- Analytics and session analytics. Google LLC and Microsoft Corporation, as described in Section 6.
- Spam and abuse protection. Cloudflare, Inc. provides the challenge that protects our contact form from automated submissions, as described in Section 6.4.
- Address entry. Google LLC provides the address suggestion feature on our contact form, as described in Section 6.5.
- Email delivery. Our email provider transmits the messages we send to you and the notifications our forms generate.
- Embedded video. Video content displayed on the Site may be served by a third-party video platform, as described in Section 6.6.
5.2 Business Partners
With your request or consent, we may share your inquiry with a solar installer, roofing contractor, distributor, or other business partner so that they can respond to you. We will make clear when we intend to do this.
5.3 Legal and Protective Disclosures
We may disclose personal information where we believe in good faith that it is necessary to comply with applicable law, regulation, subpoena, court order, or other legal process; to respond to a lawful request by public authorities; to enforce our agreements or terms; or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Solar Slate Solutions, our customers, or others.
5.4 Business Transfers
If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of all or part of our assets, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will take reasonable steps to ensure the recipient honors this Policy or provides notice of any material change.
6. Cookies, Analytics, and Session Recording
6.1 What Cookies Are
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website. Similar technologies, including pixels, tags, local storage, and software development kits, work in comparable ways. We refer to all of these as “cookies” in this Section.
6.2 Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 and Google Tag Manager, provided by Google LLC. Google Tag Manager is a container that loads and manages the analytics tags used on the Site. Google Analytics sets cookies that assign your browser a randomly generated identifier and reports information about your visit, including the pages you view, the time and duration of your visit, your approximate location derived from your IP address, and your device and browser characteristics.
Information collected by Google Analytics is processed by Google. You can prevent Google Analytics from collecting information about your visits by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, available at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
6.3 Session Analytics and Session Recording
We use Microsoft Clarity, provided by Microsoft Corporation, to understand how visitors use the Site. Clarity records your interactions with our pages, including mouse movement, clicks, taps, scrolling, and the content of the pages you view, and combines these into session replays and heatmaps that we review in aggregate and individually.
Clarity is configured by Microsoft to mask text entered into form fields. However, session recording is capable of capturing information displayed on the screen. Please do not enter sensitive information into any field on this Site.
Microsoft may associate an identifier with your browser and may use information collected through Clarity in accordance with its own privacy practices, including in connection with Microsoft advertising services. Microsoft’s privacy statement is available at https://privacy.microsoft.com/privacystatement, and Microsoft provides opt-out choices at https://choice.live.com/AdvertisementChoice.
6.4 Spam and Abuse Prevention
Our contact form uses Cloudflare Turnstile, provided by Cloudflare, Inc., to distinguish human visitors from automated software. Turnstile receives information about your browser and your interaction with the page in order to make that determination. It does not require you to solve a puzzle and does not use this information to build an advertising profile.
6.5 Address Suggestions
Our contact form uses the Google Maps Places service to suggest addresses as you type. The characters you type into the address field are transmitted to Google in order to return suggestions. If you prefer not to use this feature, you may type your address without selecting a suggestion.
6.6 Embedded Video
Pages on the Site may display video hosted by a third-party video platform. When a video loads, the platform receives your IP address and information about your browser, and may set cookies or use similar technologies in accordance with its own privacy practices.
6.7 Strictly Necessary Cookies
Our website software and security tools set cookies that are necessary for the Site to function, to keep it secure, and to remember choices you make. These cannot be switched off through the Site.
6.8 Your Cookie Choices
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to refuse new cookies, delete existing cookies, and receive a warning before a cookie is stored. If you block or delete cookies, some parts of the Site may not work as intended. In addition to browser controls, the opt-out mechanisms described in Sections 6.2 and 6.3 apply specifically to the analytics services named there.
6.9 Email Open and Click Tracking
When we send you a marketing email, it contains a small, invisible image. When your email program loads that image, we record that the message was opened, and when. This applies to every marketing email we send.
Where an email contains a link we have chosen to measure, we also record that you clicked it, and when.
Against your individual record we store: that a message was sent to you, whether it was opened, whether a measured link was clicked, whether delivery failed, and whether you unsubscribed — each with the date and time and the specific message it relates to.
This measurement is performed by our own systems on our own server, not by an outside analytics company. Our email provider transmits the message and does not perform this measurement.
How to prevent it. Most email programs can be set to block remote images, which prevents the open from being recorded. You may also unsubscribe at any time using the link in any marketing email, or by emailing info@SolarOnSlate.com.
6.10 Campaign Attribution
When you arrive at the Site from one of our emails, advertisements, or other campaign links, the address you land on may include campaign identifiers (for example, “utm_source” or “gclid”). We record those identifiers, the page you landed on, the address of the page that referred you, and the date and time of that first visit in a single first-party cookie named sos_ft. The cookie is set only on a visit that arrives with campaign identifiers, it is not updated by later visits, and it expires 180 days after it is set.
We use this information for one purpose: if you later submit a form on the Site, we attach it to your submission so that we know which campaign brought you to us. It is stored with your inquiry in our customer relationship management system (see Section 5.1) and is not shared with the email or advertising provider that carried the campaign, is not combined with data from other websites, and is not used to build a profile of you across the web. You can delete or block this cookie at any time through your browser settings (see Section 6.8); doing so does not affect your ability to use the Site or submit a form.
7. Where Your Information Is Processed
We store your information on servers located in the United States. The service providers named in this Policy are global companies that may process information about your visit on infrastructure located in the United States or in other countries. We do not otherwise transfer your personal information outside the United States.
8. How Long We Keep Your Information
We keep personal information for as long as needed for the purposes described in this Policy.
- Inquiries and correspondence are retained for as long as needed to respond to you and, where a business relationship results or may result, as part of our business records.
- Customer and business contact records, including records of prospects, installers, and distributors, are retained for the duration of the relationship and afterward as part of our business records.
- Warranty and product records are retained for the duration of the applicable warranty period and for such further period as is needed to administer claims and comply with our legal obligations.
- Website analytics information is retained according to the retention settings of the analytics services described in Section 6, after which it is deleted or aggregated by those services.
When we no longer need personal information, we delete it or remove the details that identify you.
9. How We Protect Your Information
We maintain administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, use, alteration, disclosure, and destruction. These include transmitting information to and from the Site over encrypted connections, restricting access to systems containing personal information to personnel who need it, and requiring authentication for access to those systems.
No method of transmission over the Internet and no method of electronic storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, and you provide information to us at your own risk.
10. Your Privacy Rights and Choices
10.1 Rights We Extend to All U.S. Visitors
Regardless of where you live in the United States, you may ask us to:
- Know what personal information we hold about you and how we have used and shared it
- Access a copy of that information
- Correct information that is inaccurate
- Delete the information we hold about you
- Stop contacting you for marketing purposes
To make a request, email us at info@SolarOnSlate.com or write to us at the address in Section 2. We will respond within the time required by applicable law.
We will ask for information reasonably necessary to verify that you are the person whose information is the subject of the request. We use that information only for verification. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
We may decline a request where an exception applies under applicable law, including where we are required to retain information to comply with a legal obligation, to complete a transaction you requested, to detect security incidents, or to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims. If we decline, we will tell you why.
10.2 Authorized Agents
You may use an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf. We will require written proof of the agent’s authority and may require you to verify your own identity directly with us.
10.3 Marketing Communications
You may unsubscribe from our marketing emails at any time by using the unsubscribe link in any such email or by emailing info@SolarOnSlate.com. We will continue to send communications necessary to respond to your inquiry, administer a warranty, or complete a transaction you have requested.
10.4 Appeals
If we decline your request and you believe we have done so in error, you may appeal by emailing info@SolarOnSlate.com with the subject line “Privacy Request Appeal.” We will inform you in writing of our decision and the reasons for it.
11. “Do Not Track” and Global Privacy Control
Some browsers transmit a “Do Not Track” signal. There is no common industry standard for how to respond to this signal, and the Site does not respond to it.
Some browsers and extensions transmit an opt-out preference signal such as Global Privacy Control. Where required by applicable law, we treat such a signal as a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for the browser that sends it.
12. Children’s Privacy
The Site is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16 years of age. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please email info@SolarOnSlate.com and we will delete it.
13. Third-Party Links
The Site contains links to websites and social media pages operated by others, including manufacturers, industry organizations, and our own social media profiles. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of those websites. This Policy applies only to the Site. We encourage you to read the privacy policy of every website you visit.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last Updated” date at the top. If we make material changes, we will provide a more prominent notice, which may include posting a notice on the Site or contacting you directly. We encourage you to review this Policy periodically.
